Weekly Ziti

I’m going to let you in on a secret. It’s called the Weekly Ziti. What you do is make a baked ziti every week, and eat it. It’s cheap, delicious, and easy to make and easy to embellish. Take these numbers:

  1. 1 lb ziti: $1
  2. Bag of shredded Italian cheese: $5
  3. Jar of vodka sauce: $2.50

And you can get 6 meals out of that. That’s $1.41 per meal. (That’s only half a buck more than a pack of ramen noodles, and way better for you). And with the money you save making it, you can add extra things like sausage (Boulder Sausage Bratwurst, natch), veggies or fancier cheeses (mootzarell).


  1. Boil ziti
  2. Pour ziti into oven safe dish
  3. Pour in vodka sauce and 3/4s of the cheese, also a little salt and pepper (also anything extra you want to throw in)
  4. Mix
  5. Spread the rest of the cheese on top
  6. Into 350 degree oven for 40 minutes
