    The Health and Beauty Brigade

Hello dear readers. I’ve had a special request to share some DIY beauty tips, so I wanted to take that opportunity to share my journey of mind, hair, and skin.

"Hello, Findlay! You always look so adorable. You must tell us WHO does your hair??"

Your skin looks great! I’ve wanted to do something like this for a while and this all looks cheaper than actual “beauty” products. What are the health benefits of drinking cider vinegar every day? I just bought a fresh bottle for my coleslaw recipe and, well, have a bunch of it.

The raw apple cider vinegar remedy is the most folk medicine-y thing of all this stuff. Supposedly just a small amount a day is good for things like regulating blood pressure and blood sugar, keeps you feeling full longer, and the acid helps restore pH balance. The pH thing interested me because that’s related to skin and hair health. When your pH is at the right level, your skin is working at its best. I haven’t used this regularly enough to say whether or not it helped me. But I do actually like the taste… I like to make a drink of it using 16 oz of water, a tablespoon of honey and tablespoon of vinegar. Maybe a splash of soda water too ;)

Whoa Laura! Your skin & hair look great! I’m definitely going to try all of these out. I’ve never really had a problem with ache (even in my highschool years), but recently it’s been flaring up like I’ve rubbed butter drenched movie popcorn all over my face and chest. I was attempting to correct the problem by washing my hair every other day, thinking that my hair was the issue – now you’ve given me the tools and I know what to do! Thanks bestie. xoxo

Beautiful work Laura…are you getting an alpaca now? I really want one…I have felted and it is hard work, you need to use soap with olive oil in it to keep your hands from chapping.

    Pay it forward with friendship.

For this craft project, I put together a care package for my long-time BFF who is completing her law degree and graduating in May. Law school isn’t an easy road, so I sent along some treats to help her through finals week. A big jar full of homemade chocolate chip cookies and a box of local tea sachets should do the trick.

When you’re far from friends who you still retain a deep friendship with, you don’t really need constant reminders of how special your friendship is, but it never hurts to sometimes show it. ;)

    Findlay, one year later

One year ago today we brought home Findlay, our furry, pointy-eared “child.” I wrote then about the first few things he was good at and enjoyed doing. I will give you an update of some of the things Findlay likes and knows how to do now.

    Portland SketchXchange with Jolby

    SketchXchange: An Evening with Jolby

Hello friends! Last Friday Sean and I attended a great event in Portland called sketchXchange. The evening featured a talk by local badass designers and illustrators Jolby and Friends, a peek inside their personal sketchbooks and at some of their latest work, and a chance to chat with other attendees while drawing in sketchbooks and sipping brews. This was the very first event of its kind in Portland, Sean and I were lucky enough to score 2 of 25 free tickets to the intimate event!

    The Springwater Corridor

I took advantage of having half a day off and a somewhat sunny afternoon to bike along Portland’s Springwater Corridor. The Corridor is a paved and maintained multi-use path that winds through 20 miles of metropolitan Portland, connecting the city to neighboring suburbs. It is a portion of the “40 Mile Loop,” an ambitious and partially completed greenway connecting more than thirty city parks.

This looks awesome! I can’t wait to visit, you should take us here!

I love that you guys have a 40 mile loop that is essentially made for bikes and doesn’t involved the freeway (or riding on major roads for that matter). :)
