The final card arrived a month ago! I apologize for posting this so late. Similar to last year, I felt pretty loved over the holiday season and was impressed with everyone’s mad card making skills. This year Chris and I hung a string with two separate sections to make sure all of the cards would fit. Without further ado, here are the 2013 cards in the order I received them (if I can remember correctly):

The holiday card swap was so successful the past two years I thought it would be nice to do it again. It was really fun to receive cards throughout December & make our homes more merry with shout-outs from friends. To anyone who didn’t participate last year (or who needs a fresh look at the rules) please read the following:
XC Craft Swap IX
Rules: Everyone that signs up will send and receive a card from everyone that is participating. Cards can be as simple or as complicated as you’d like (including store bought – new addition this year).
If you’re interested please write your name and email in the comments below before November 8th. The swap begins on November 9th. I’ll send out an email to pass along everyone’s addresses. The number of people who sign up below is generally a good indication of how many cards to make. You should start sending your cards on December 1st and feel free to post your own card to the blog or I can post them as I get them – up to you!
P.S. Click here to see the cards that were sent out last year to get ideas.

Inspired by cooking shows (Chopped, MasterChef, etc.), this craft swap is about making something ‘stunning’ with unknown – potentially weird – objects.
XC Craft Swap VIII
Theme: Mystery Box Challenge
Rules: Everyone that signs up will be assigned another crafter. You have a month to put objects (anything goes, <=$20 in value) into a package & mail it to the person you are assigned. Once you receive your package, you have a month to create something using those objects. You can use other objects to create your craft as well, but keep in mind the objects you received should be the hero – not a garnish.
If you’re interested please write your name below before August 31st. The swap begins on September 1st. You should send your boxes/packages on October 1st. The crafts, that you will keep & post, are due on November 1st – just in time to start making your holiday cards. ;)

The final card has arrived! This year’s end-of-the-year craft swap was our biggest ever with 15 participants. I have to admit, I’m feeling pretty loved this holiday season. The card ribbon Chris and I set up in the kitchen is overflowing! Without further ado, here are the 2012 cards in the order I received them:
I’m sorry the swapping has been on hiatus- I’ve been swamped! The holiday card swap was so successful last year I thought it would be a good one to start up the crafting again. To anyone who didn’t participate last year (or who needs a fresh look at the rules) please read the following:
XC Craft Swap VII
Rules: Everyone that signs up will send and receive a card to everyone that is participating. Cards can be as simple or as complicated as you’d like – just not 100% store bought (cause that would take all the craftiness out of it).
If you’re interested please write your name below before October 31st. The swap begins on November 1st. You should start sending your cards on December 1st and feel free to post your own card to the blog or I can post them as I get them – up to you!

For this craft project, I put together a care package for my long-time BFF who is completing her law degree and graduating in May. Law school isn’t an easy road, so I sent along some treats to help her through finals week. A big jar full of homemade chocolate chip cookies and a box of local tea sachets should do the trick.
When you’re far from friends who you still retain a deep friendship with, you don’t really need constant reminders of how special your friendship is, but it never hurts to sometimes show it. ;)

The following story and pictures are from Sabrina! – Linzi
I have a very good friend from college who is living in the Washington DC area participating in Math for America. Since the beginning of the program she has been incredibly stressed out and miserable. There have been numerous things that have happened that were really unfortunate- flooding in her room, her car getting hit by a stolen vehicle- the list goes on.

For Craft Swap VI: Pay It Forward I knitted a seafoam stitch infinity scarf for my mom! My mom, Sue Bergmann, went through a lot last year, and I admire her for being one tough cookie. I chose to make an infinity scarf because my mom loves to go on long treks in the cold woods with her many dog friends. I used 98% alpaca yarn because alpacas and llamas are her favorite farm animal – she’s talked about getting one for years. The yarn made from their wool is super soft when knitted loosely, which is why I chose the lace-like seafoam stitch.

Come one, come all – it’s a new year and time for another craft swap! I’m sure everyone is working hard at their resolutions, so this craft swap will be a simple but goodie. Inspired by the 2000 classic movie, Pay It Forward, for this craft swap we will be doing and documenting a good deed.
XC Craft Swap VI
Theme: Pay It Forward
Rules: At some point in February through the end of March, you will do a good, selfless deed for someone. You can make them something, do something with them, or do something for them. It can be someone you know or someone you haven’t met yet. All that’s required is that the person you choose is NOT involved with this craft swap, documentation of the deed, and -for a twist- this act of kindness should come as a surprise to the recipient. Even though a story is all that’s required, it would be even better if you shared pictures as well.
If you’re interested please write your name below before January 31st. The swap begins on February 1st. Please send me or post your own stories and pictures before March 31st.
